Gas pumping to German storages shrinks as ruble payments rejected

MOSCOW, Jun 3 (PRIME) -- The latest rejections of the ruble payments for Russian gas has slowed down pumping to the German underground gas storages considerably, operator Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) said on Friday.

On Tuesday, gas giant Gazprom stopped pumping gas to Dutch company GasTerra, and on Wednesday to Shell Energy Europe in Germany and Orsted in Denmark over their rejection to pay in rubles.

After that, pumping to the German storages decreased. In May, the storages were filled by 0.5–0.7% each day, but after Monday they are filled by 0.3%. As of Wednesday, the German storages were 49.16% full.

Gas pumping to the E.U. underground storages in general also slowed down to 0.3% per day after Monday from 0.4–0.5% a day earlier in May. As of Wednesday, the E.U. underground gas storages were 47.6% full, according to data of the GIE.
